What seemed like hours later because I had to get stuck in traffic multiple times, I finally turned onto Trevor's driveway, a frazzled heap of emotions, and not good ones.

His sign made me smile though. "No hoodie, no service."

But the closer I got to his house, the more that smile faded until it completely disappeared. My hands were practically trembling on the steering wheel at this point. As soon as I pulled into my usual spot, Trevor opened the door, walking out to greet me along with Mr. Sparkles.

My gosh, he looked incredible... all freshly showered with slightly damp hair and wearing my favorite blue t-shirt that practically molded to his muscles while making his eyes pop.

I wished to heaven I could say that just the sight of him calmed me. But it didn't. Not in the slightest. That phrase jumpier than a cat in a room full of rocking chairs popped into my mind. That was me. The freaked-out cat.

"Hey," I said breathlessly as he approached my door.

"Hey," he answered with a grin, all straight white teeth set against a tan face.

While he opened my door wider, I narrowed my eyes at him. "I've already agreed to this thing. You don't have to be a gentleman."

He laughed at me, walking toward the back of my car when I popped my trunk, taking out my heavy bag for me. I waited for some snarky comment from him about what I had in there, but there wasn't one.

The three of us walked inside, the cool air refreshing against the heat permeating the evening. Trevor set my bag down next to the kitchen counter and turned to look at me.

"So..." he said.

"So..." I answered.

Mr. Sparkles stood between us, his head going back and forth like he was in the middle of a tennis match and wasn't sure which way to go, his tongue hanging out.

"So..." Trevor repeated.

I erupted into giggles, Trevor's brows coming together in confusion.

"What?" he asked.

"This is so weird."

"You think so?"

"Duh. You don't think so?"

He exhaled. "Yeah. I guess it is. I don't know about you, but I've never planned something out like this before."

"Me neither. Like what are we supposed to do? Just go upstairs and tear each other's clothes off and get right to it?"

"Sounds good to me." He grinned at me, all cocky self-confidence.

"Can I at least have a drink first?"

"You need some beer goggles before you hook up with me?" he asked.

"You know you're hot, so please don't pretend otherwise."

His brows raised. "You think I'm hot?"

"Oh, my God. Could you just get me a drink already? Preferably a strong one."

"Not too strong," he argued, going around the counter and into the kitchen. "I don't want you to be drunk."

"Please. I'm not going to get wasted from one drink."

"Okay then. What do you want?"

After he showed me his liquor cabinet, plus a bottle of white wine he had in the fridge, I decided on a vodka cranberry—cool, refreshing, and a little bit stronger than I expected, especially after the fuss Trevor had made.
